The University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital has a state-of-the-art pediatric facility with a full-service pediatric emergency department treating over 23,000 children annually. The Department of Pediatrics has over 250 faculty and offers a broad range of academic activities including medical education, clinical research, and quality initiatives. The Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine values education, clinical research, and care for high complexity/acuity patients including mental health and addiction cases. Faculty are involved in teaching, simulation training, and quality improvement projects. The position requires an M.D. degree or foreign equivalent, board certification or eligibility in pediatric emergency medicine, ability to obtain PALS instructor certification within 3 months, and Minnesota medical license. Duties include providing emergency medical services to critically ill and injured pediatric patients, diagnosing and treating medical emergencies, counseling patients and parents, recommending diagnostic testing, managing mental health and addiction cases, instructing residents and staff in procedures and PALS courses, participating in mock codes and quality improvement projects, updating emergency department guidelines, and performing administrative duties.
